Hadigian is set to meet Daniel De Jonge, a Pepperdine junior from the Netherlands, on Saturday. De Jonge eliminated Alafia Ayeni, a Cornell senior from San Diego, 6-1, 6-3.
In Saturday's other second-place playoff semifinal, Mousheg Hovhannisyan of Los Angeles will play Joshua Ortlip of Irvine in the L.A. region. Hovhannisyan, 29, edged Aidan Mayo, Keenan's 17-year-old brother, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (6).
In a first-place playoff semifinal on Saturday, Jenson Brooksby, 20, of Carmichael, Calif., in the Sacramento region is scheduled to play Stanford freshman Tristan Boyer of Altadena in the Los Angeles area. Brooksby defeated Boyer 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to win the 2018 Easter Bowl in Indian Wells, Calif.
Brooksby is playing in his first tournament as a professional. He won the 2018 USTA Boys 18 National Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., and reached the second round of the 2019 U.S. Open as a qualifier, shocking 2010 Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych.
Also Saturday, Stanford senior Timothy Sah of San Diego will play Pepperdine sophomore Robert Shelton of Lancaster, Pa., in a third-place playoff semifinal.
ATP Tour —Mackenzie McDonald, a 25-year-old product of Piedmont in the San Francisco Bay Area, and Tommy Paul, 23, of Delray Beach, Fla., topped Cristian Garin of Chile and Andre Goransson (University of California, Berkeley, 2014-17) of Sweden 6-4, 6-7 (4) [10-4] in the first round of the Delray Beach Open.
