Taylor Davidson lifted the 15th-seeded Stanford women a dramatic 4-3 victory over Texas A&M on Saturday at Stanford in the second round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
Davidson, ranked 46th, topped Rutuja Bhosale, ranked 69th, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 on Court 2 in the deciding match.
Stanford (16-5) will face rival Florida (23-2), ranked first but seeded second, in the round of 16 on Thursday in Tulsa, Okla. The schools have won four of the last six NCAA titles.
On the other side of San Francisco Bay from Stanford, top-seeded Cal coasted to a 4-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara. The Bears (21-1) will meet 16th-seeded Texas Tech (25-5) on Thursday in Tulsa.
Earlier in Berkeley, the 13th-seeded Cal men dismantled Army 4-0 in the first round. The Bears (18-6) will host Mississippi (16-10), which edged Denver 4-3 in Berkeley, today at 1 p.m.
Stanford (15-10) dominated Notre Dame 4-1 in Evanston, Ill., to set up a match against No. 14 seed and host Northwestern (26-4) today at 11 a.m. PDT.
