Nicole Gibbs soared 49 places to a career-high No. 195 in the world in doubles after winning last week's $50,000 Waco (Texas) Challenger with fellow Southern Californian Vania King.
Wild cards Gibbs, 22, of Marina del Rey and King, 26, of Long Beach beat fourth-seeded Julia Glushko of Israel and Rebecca Peterson 6-4, 6-4 in the final.
Gibbs won the 2012 NCAA doubles title as a Stanford sophomore with Mallory Burdette.
King, who won the 2010 Wimbledon and U.S. Open women's doubles titles with Yaroslava Shvedova, returned to competition in August after missing almost one year with a herniated disc in her neck.
Gibbs also improved nine spots to No. 119 in singles after reaching the Waco final, in which she lost to unseeded Viktorija Golubic of Switzerland 6-2, 6-1.
Gibbs, who turned pro in 2013 after winning her second straight NCAA singles title, climbed to a career-high No. 84 in March.
