Sweeting, a 6-foot-5 right-hander, is scheduled to play in Sacramento's season opener July 9 at Boston, July 10 at Philadelphia and July 14 at Orange County.
Sweeting, 24, is ranked No. 134 in the world after reaching a career-high No. 64 last September. He won his only career ATP World Tour title last year on clay in Houston. Formerly the No. 2 junior in the world, Sweeting won the 2005 U.S. Open boys singles title.
Like Capitals teammate Mark Knowles, Sweeting was born in the Bahamas. Sweeting, however, became an American citizen in 2006. He resides in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Knowles, 40, will return for his 11th WTT season, all with the Capitals. A three-time Grand Slam champion in men's doubles, he climbed to No. 1 in the world in that event in 2002 and 2004. In addition, he was named the WTT Male MVP in 2001, 2005 and 2007.
Also scheduled to play for Sacramento are 12th-ranked Mardy Fish (July 12 and 13), former top-20 player Sam Querrey (five matches), promising American CoCo Vandeweghe (at least five matches), hometown favorite Yasmin Schnack and former USTA national 18 doubles champion Asia Muhammed.
Only Knowles and Schnack return from Sacramento's 2011 team, which finished 20-19 in the regular season and lost to the St. Louis Aces 20-19 in the Western Conference final.
Vania King is trying to make the U.S. Olympic team, and the Capitals chose not to re-sign Dusan Vemic, who will turn 36 on Sunday. Fish was scheduled to play one match for Sacramento last year but withdrew with an abdominal strain. He underwent a procedure on May 23 to correct an irregular heartbeat.

Aegon Championships in London -- Querrey, a San Francisco native, upset 12th-seeded Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 7-6 (4), 6-3 to reach the third round of the Wimbledon grass-court tuneup tournament.
Sweeting lost to third-seeded Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 6-1, 7-6 (2) in the second round after beating Dmitry Tursunov, who lives in the Sacramento suburb of Folsom, 6-4, 7-6 (6).
In doubles, wild cards Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick edged Yen-Hsun Lu and Querrey 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3) in the first round. Hewitt and Roddick are former world No. 1s in singles.
Chico Futures in Chico -- Qualifier Nicholas John Andrews of Folsom beat second-seeded Gregory Ouellette of Ormond Beach, Fla., 3-6, 7-5, 4-2, retired in the first round of the $15,000 Chico Futures at the Chico Racquet Club & Resort.
As he did last week in the Sacramento Futures, Ouellette retired from his opening match because of a hip strain related to a blister on his left heel. Andrews recently was named an All-American in doubles after his senior year at Cal.
Other players advancing included unseeded Pedro Zerbini, a Brazilian who graduated from Cal in December; sixth-seeded Devin Britton, the Sacramento champion; unseeded Jeff Dadamo, the Sacramento runner-up; and top-seeded Tennys Sandgren.
Seventh-seeded Daniel King-Turner of New Zealand defeated Germany's Sebastian Fanselow, a Pepperdine All-American who reached the Sacramento semifinals, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 Tuesday in the first round. Joshua Zavala upset No. 8 seed and fellow American Dennis Lajola 6-4, 6-3.
Andrews and Ben McLachlan, Cal teammates this past season, nipped Americans Trevor Dobson and Nicholas Edlefsen 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 tiebreak in the first round of doubles.
